At the same time, it can be seen from the data that after the panel continues to reduce prices, the price gap between different size panels is getting smaller and smaller, which allows TV manufacturers to choose product strategy more freely without having to consider cost factors too much. Compared with the panel price in March 2017, it was found that the panel price cuts in March this year were so large, the 32-inch panel price dropped by 18%, the 40-inch panel price decreased by 38%, and the 43-inch panel price decreased year-on-year. For 35%, the 49-inch panel price dropped by 27% year-on-year, and the 55-inch panel price fell by 19% year-on-year. The reduction in cost pressure will add more confidence to TV manufacturers' promotional strategies.
From the current exposure of some unreleased TV new products, such as Storm TV, Micro Whale TV, etc., can also see the manufacturers want to complete the product chain behavior. Storm TV has filed a number of 65-inch large-size TVs on the 3C website, and the 32-inch small-size new products of the D-Whale TV D series have also been exposed on the 3C website, which are used to fill the previous size blanks.
It is worth noting that the sharp decline in panel prices may force panel makers to change their business strategies, such as reducing production capacity, to ensure operating profit, so there is also a market risk of supply chain disruption. However, if panel makers reduce production capacity, production costs will increase. Once action is taken to control supply, if the demand in the second quarter remains unresolved, the situation of panel makers will be difficult. In addition, Korean and Taiwan panel makers are also concerned that BOE's 10.5 line will be produced in March, as its first 65-inch panel has been approved by 10 TV manufacturers.
