ADI newly launched SigmaDSP audio processor, algorithm capacity increased by 3 times

Analog Devices, Inc., the world's leading supplier of high-performance signal processing solutions, recently launched a new audio-centric product in its SigmaDSP processor series, and its signal processing capabilities far exceed previous SigmaDSP devices. Improvements in hardware and software make the ADAU1452 SigmaDSP processor's ability to execute audio processing algorithms up to three times higher than its predecessor products, providing designers with more flexibility to improve the audio performance of their products.

This new processor has an independent hardware architecture and is specifically optimized to efficiently process audio signal streams created using ADI ’s award-winning, easy-to-use SigmaStudio graphical programming tool. ADAU1452 is the first product in the SigmaDSP series audio processor that supports both time and frequency domain processing. This product expands the application range of signal processing technology and can be used to solve system design problems.

ADAU1452 is suitable for a variety of products in a variety of applications, such as automotive infotainment (amplifier and main controller), consumer audio (SOUNDBAR speakers, subwoofers and active speakers), professional audio (amplifiers, mixers and sound effect units) .

The ADAU1452 is equipped with a 1.2 v, 32-bit DSP core. The operating frequency can be up to 294.912 MHz. Each sample can execute up to 6144 instructions (approximately equivalent to 1.2 GMAC / s or 295 MIPS). The standard sampling rate is 48 kHz. The optimized kernel architecture allows more than 3,000 biquad filters to be executed in a single program. The expanded data memory can accommodate FIR filters of up to 24,000 taps. ADAU1452 SigmaDSP's clock generator, onboard asynchronous sampling rate converter and flexible hardware audio routing matrix can greatly simplify the design of complex multi-rate audio systems, while the clock hardware and integer phase-locked loop (PLL) can simultaneously generate up to 15 Audio sampling rate.

The ADAU1452 can connect a wide range of data converters, digital audio devices, amplifiers, and control circuits, thanks to its configurable 48-channel, 32-bit serial port, stereo S / PDIF interface, and multi-purpose input / output pins. Using the PDM interface and integrated decimation filter, you can also directly connect up to 4 MEMS microphones.

The independent slave device and I2C / SPI control port of the master not only allow the ADAU1452 to be programmed and configured by an external master, but also allow it to act as a master and directly configure the external slave. Using this feature, coupled with the self-booting function, a compact independent system can be designed, which can work normally without external input.
