Professional institutions introduced that during the three years from 2008 to 2010, the central government invested 2.562 billion yuan and promoted 360 million high-efficiency lighting products. According to estimates, these products will generate a total of about 66 billion kWh of electricity during their lifetime, equivalent to about 18 million tons of standard coal and about 47 million tons of carbon dioxide. This means that for every dollar invested in financial subsidies, it can contribute about 26 kWh of electricity.
