1. China has industry and has not completed industrialization

Despite the hot debate on Industry 4.0, in Liu Lao’s view, this concept obscures the basic facts of domestic industrialization: China is not a manufacturing power in the true sense, but a processing power. The so-called "system" means specifications, standards, processes, equipment and assembly lines.

Liu Lao said that "system" is people's, and "making" is ours.

The most characteristic of the systemized large-scale production is the drawings. All the processes must be operated strictly according to the drawings. The drawings are orders, and the drawings of many factories in China are imported from abroad. The essence of drawings is “pre-design”. An industrial designer must consider the whole process of manufacturing, circulation, use and recycling.

The first-class industrial powers like Germany started from the introduction of the assembly line. The British later put the German products on the "Made in Germany" label to show the defective products and the cottage. This stimulated the Germans, and the Germans quickly made Adjustment, focusing on product quality and setting industry standards.

In contrast, China's industrial base has not kept up fast, and industry standards are still quite backward. Liu Lao, taking the screw as an example, can produce the smallest national model M3, and the M1 screw still needs to be imported. In fact, there are screw factories everywhere in the country, and there is only one screw factory in Japan, so people can do better. There are only three electroplating plants in Germany, and almost every factory in our country has electroplating plants.

This kind of pursuit of "small but complete" in production, Liu Lao called it "small production society concept."

I don't know how to complement and cooperate in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. The biggest characteristic of the industrialized society is that "My advantage is that you don't understand. Your advantage is that I don't understand, so that there will be cooperation. Otherwise, you and me are the same, isn't it competition? ?!"

Recently, Liu Lao went abroad to learn and found that the "Made in China" OEM products are sharply decreasing, which shows that the demographic dividend that supports China to become a world processing factory has disappeared. Some bosses asked Liu Lao to ask, "Is there any way to save the enterprise?" Liu Lao refused to open such a rescue party. "There is no such magic weapon under the sun. The thing that does not do the basics is speculation." Liu Lao also knows that enterprises cannot be blamed, and enterprises must pay wages and pay taxes, and they can only look at them. The government is like a "parent" of a company, and it has to make plans for the long-term business; treating new things like "innovation" is like raising a baby. If it can't produce benefits in the short term, it will leave it alone. Some basic industry standards, technical research, patent protection, etc., have also been led by the government and industry associations.

2. China's industrial design or shopping mall concept

In the design idea of ​​the canopy, there is a clear distinction between industrial design and commercial design. Industrial design is an integrated system engineering, which has a fundamental and far-reaching impact on the development of the enterprise, for the sustainable application of people; and the pursuit of commercial design is The style is more fashionable and the appearance is cooler. The main task is to sell the goods quickly.

Liu Lao believes that "market" is a system , not only for short-term sales, but also for next year and next year. It is not possible to do research, follow the crowd's tail, and have forward-looking strategic breakthrough products.

And China's MarkeTIng is not a "market concept" but a "market concept."

When enterprises choose industrial design solutions, they often look at whether they can sell goods quickly. Designers also try their best to be more fashionable. Liu Lao’s fashion industrial design is called “short-lived ghost”. Once outdated, it will cause goods. With a large backlog, companies go to the brand company to do conceptual packaging and positioning. In fact, there are only a handful of brands in an industry. More brands have “brands” and no “products.” The “stick” of over-marketing and enterprise transformation is to ignore the basic value of industrial design.

In recent years, the design of the concept of shopping malls on the corrosion of the industry, especially the phenomenon of various awards, let Liu Lao feel distressed. Design forums, exhibitions, and judging have sprung up all over the place. The activities are very enthusiastic. Leaders presented awards, but whether they were developed, no one is going to catch them. Many award-winning works are superficial articles, and the overall industrial design level has not been improved. The grand prize also took the opportunity to come to China to make money.

3. Chinese dream is not a rich dream of ordinary people

The "Chinese Dream" should not be the pursuit of pre-existing dignitaries, all of them become famous. The biggest problem since the reform and opening up is that all the people look at the money. It seems that everyone has a dream of making a fortune in their minds. Some college students do not attend classes. Three or five groups plan to start a business. Liu Lao can’t help but pour cold water on young people. You have to understand what is "industry" first, do not understand the market, management, financial entrepreneurship, it is dreaming.

Liu Lao said that an industrial designer must critically inherit the traditional "culture" as well as the modern "civilization."

Culture is a spatial concept. Different regions and cultures are different. For example, cultural heritage, four treasures of the study, cheongsam of Tang suits, etc., but mainly in museums or celebrations; and civilization is a concept of time and history. Axis, such as mobile phones, computers, etc., must be inseparable in daily life.

4. The nature of regression design

Professor Liu Guanzhong founded “Design Logic”, arguing that the starting point of design is “things” and the result is “things”. The purpose of design is not to provide a style, but to give a reasonable and healthy lifestyle.

"There is no change from the ancestors", the design solves the needs of people's clothing, food, housing, use, travel, communication, etc., instead of making houses, cars, tickets, etc., of course, re-planning people's lifestyle light It is obviously impossible to rely on a designer's work. Therefore, the designer is more like an organizer and an integrator. There is no such thing as a “master of design”.

Liu Guanzhong was born in a war-torn era, and he has a deep understanding of the national national backwardness and beatings. When he came to Beijing to go to college, his father put a note in his bag that read "The mightyness can't be bent, the wealth can't be lascivious, the barren can't move." This is a "heirloom" that can't be lost at any time. The experience of visiting Germany in the 1980s allowed Liu Guanzhong to realize that the reason why Germany can be a world industrial power lies in its solid industrial design national education.
