The Montreal YMCA Canada launched a “Consent 360°†initiative to encourage young people to discuss “sexual issues†through 360-degree videos. The initiative was provided by the Canadian Women’s Affairs Secretariat with US$90,000 in funding.
The five-minute VR movie starring Emanuel St-Pierre describes a boy and a girl slowly approaching each other until the distance between the two sides makes each other uneasy.
Metro Julie Rainville of the YMCA in Montreal said: “We don’t want this boy to play a nonsensical role. The boy in the movie is not a bad person, but he is persistent.†The message the message is trying to convey is to listen to each other’s desires, but We do not necessarily need reason to reject sexual activity.
The project of the Montreal YMCA is an excellent initiative to attract young people, answer their questions, encourage them to communicate and discuss, and understand their views on “I do†sexual activities. This was also supported by the minister responsible for women’s affairs. They are also better aware of and ready to deal with this issue.
A survey initiated by the Women's Affairs Secretariat in the spring shows that young people aged 18-24 are less likely to know how to defend themselves when they go into sexual activity or be sexually assaulted.
The Consent 360° will be played in various events, festivals, and preparatory education in Montreal until 2017.
