The LED manufacturers in Taiwan Island, including Fuhua Electronics, Yiguang, Dingyuan, Liquid Solid and Qiqi, jointly exhibited more than 30 AC LED applications on the 19th.
The AC LED Application R&D Alliance will also enter the International Lighting Commission (CIE) to present the world's first draft of AC LED component measurement standards, allowing Taiwan's LED products to lead the progress of AC LED standards in various countries, and quickly cut into new business opportunities in the LED international market.
Some experts said that Taiwan's LED production is the world's top, but it also faces basic patents subject to foreign big companies, and has been subject to patent infringement lawsuits. The development of AC LED innovation technology, high value-added applications and standards will be a new opportunity for Taiwan's LED industry to break through the predicament. The ICFL, which has just won the R&D100 R&D award in the United States, has led more than 80 key basic patents in more than 25 cases worldwide. The layout of upstream and midstream packages to downstream applications is very complete. Currently, it is also working with foreign verification company UL and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to lead the AC LED international specifications and lead Taiwanese companies to take the lead in capturing global lighting.
Zhan Yiren, director of the Institute of Electro-Optical Institute of Taiwan Institute of Technology and AC LED Application R&D Alliance, said that last year AC LED set up an application research and development alliance, and manufacturers can mass-produce this year, mainly because of the innovation and uniqueness of AC LED technology design. And the complete patent layout, coupled with the complete division of labor in Taiwan's LED industry, enabling R&D to quickly enter mass production and complete the rare mass production success cases in Taiwan. This is an opportunity for Taiwan's LED industry to break away from the traditional OEM business model and move toward high-value development. It can expand the AC LED downstream application products, marketing market and channels through the development of LED lighting, and quickly seize the international market.
2009 is a key year for the development of AC LED, and there is a significant progress in standard verification and mass production. In 2008, after completing the North American market safety verification with Youli (UL), manufacturers such as Fuhua Electronics passed the safety regulations. This year, it also established a multinational standard development cooperation plan with NIST to complete the world's first draft of optical and electrical measurement standards for AC LED components. It is expected to become the national standard for CNS in Taiwan early next year. At the same time, it will also be held in Hungary at the end of May. The Lighting Commission (CIE) proposed the draft AC LED measurement standard, and strived to lead the international AC LED lighting verification, measurement and lighting standards, and made the international LED sound for Taiwan LED manufacturers.
In terms of mass production of AC LED products, five companies including Yiguang, Dingyuan, Liquid Solid, Datong Group, Fuhua Electronics and Qiqi have released the latest products, from AC LED components to indoor lighting applications. More than 30 items, including a full-featured table lamp, a small wattage night light, and a highly efficient high-power AC LED module, combined with traditional LED bulbs and lamp glass packaging technology, exhibiting multiple styles and different Power (1-16W) AC LED bulbs, tubes, etc.
