Japanese manufacturers introduce high thermal conductivity resin cooling shell LED lights

Izaki Electric and Teijin Co., Ltd. have developed E26 type outdoor LED lighting bulbs that use resin in the heat-dissipation section. The high-thermal-conductivity resin that has been polymerized with polycarbonate resin in Raheama, a highly thermally conductive carbon material developed by Teijin, is used as the housing material. . According to Iwasaki Electric and Teijin, the E26-type LED lighting products, which are made of resin, are the first ones in the world. It is envisaged that self-ballasted mercury lamps used in place of billboards, job sites, etc., are scheduled to be launched in 2010.

Raheama is a carbon material that is more thermally conductive than metal. The highly thermally conductive resin used in the housing has almost the same heat dissipation as aluminum. The weight is the same as the weight of the self-ballasted mercury lamp and auxiliary equipment, which is approximately 300g. The advantages of LED lighting are high luminous efficiency and long life. The disadvantage is that in order to release the heat from the LED module, the aluminum alloy is mostly used in the housing. This will increase the weight. The use of resin to make the shell reduces weight. Thanks to its excellent moldability, it is possible to increase the freedom of design.

The total luminous flux of the new product is 1600 lm. It is higher than the original self-ballasted mercury lamp (about 1450lm), while the power consumption is 18W, which is much less than the power consumption of the self-ballasted mercury lamp (168W). The light color includes 3000K and 6500K, and the average color rendering index (R) is 80 and 70 respectively. The life span is about 40,000 hours (about 6,000 hours from a self-ballasted mercury lamp).

The jointly developed product is planned to be marketed by Iwasaki Electric as "LED Eye Lamp" in 2010. Teijin plans to strengthen the promotion of Raheama in the LED field by taking this product as an opportunity while supplying high thermal conductivity resin to Iwasaki Electric. Including the use promotion for other fields, Teijin will sell hundreds of tons of Raheama in 2015.
