LEDs create magical walk for VIP Entrance at O2

Tryka has supplied LED luminaires and drive systems for a VIP entrance at the O2 venue in London. The eclectic O2 in London (formerly the Millennium Dome) can already claim to be a success, with world-acclaimed artists performing sell-out concerts and entertainment on offer for all ages and tastes.
The VIP entrance leading from the Queen Elizabeth II Pier on the river Thames to the O2 has been given the LED lighting treatment to improve the visitor experience.
Architen Landrell have helped shape this striking part of the venue thanks to their design, manufacture and installation of a weatherproof tunnel leading visitors to the Arena from the waterfront.
View from above After being awarded several projects as part of the old Millennium Dome's redevelopment, Architen Landrell presented clients O2 and venue owners AEG with a range of options for the proposed lighting scheme at Riverwalk, with Tryka being the winning one.
35 Tryka Module 36 IP67 with oval optics are installed inside the custom-built 150m long tunnel, with Tryka's IDS-4 rack Intelligent Drive System controlled by an LPC DMX system.
The luminaires offer a wide beam angle for illuminating the vast area and their IP rating means they are ideal for exterior use and their units are installed on a prominent position on the columns and therefore needed To be aesthetically pleasing.
Architen Landrell's Lighting Division's Project Manager Christopher Rowell was involved with the Riverwalk redevelopment from the start and comments: "The effect achieved is quite amazing. Coming from the water side and being drawn into this colour-changing tunnel of light feels almost magical and is certainly a unique experience."
Rowell continues: "A further achievement was installing all the drivers in a control room 150m away from the luminaires, which resulted in an impressive number of cable routes which had to be hidden in the supporting steel work."
