In the third quarter of this year, Sony PlayStaTIon VR virtual reality head-mounted shipments of 490,000 units, is the leader in market share; Facebook's Oculus ranked second, Rift virtual reality head-mounted shipments of 210,000; HTC ranked third, and Vive's virtual reality head-mounted shipments were 160,000 units. The popularity of the virtual reality headset in the Japanese market has driven the sale of Sony PlayStaTIon VR. Canalys analyst Jason Low said in a statement, "Sony is using the consumer's interest in virtual reality technology. Since the release of PlayStaTIon VR, Sony has firmly controlled the Japanese virtual reality market.
