Littelfuse Introduces Industry's First Unidirectional ESD Protection Device in 01005 Flip-Chip Package

Littelfuse , Inc. today announced the industry's first product: the new series of three unidirectional TVS diode arrays are available in 01005 (0.230mm x 0.430mm) flip-chip packages. Unidirectional protection performance is generally better than bidirectional protection, especially for logic and data line applications where normal operation typically does not transmit zero volts.

SP3415, SP1043/SP1044TVS Diode Array

The new SP3145 series TVS diode array (SPA? diode) based on fast-action semiconductor technology can withstand multiple electrostatic discharge (ESD) events without wear or degradation. Its low nominal capacitance (0.35pF) makes the series ideal for high data rate operation interfaces up to 5GHz clock speed.

The versatile SP1043 (8pF) and SP1044 (30pF) series of TVS diode arrays use proprietary silicon avalanche technology to protect the I/O ports of electronic devices that are vulnerable to destructive ESD. This high performance diode safely absorbs repeated ESD strikes of ±12kV (SP1043) or ±30kV (SP1044) without any performance degradation.

Typical applications for these TVS diode arrays include smartphones, digital cameras, wearable technology, tablets and other portable devices.

• Provides ESD immunity that exceeds the maximum ratings in the IEC61000-4-2 standard, enabling circuit designers to have greater design margins and ensure higher end product reliability.

Low dynamic resistance (maximum 3.5? for SP3145 and 0.45? for SP1043/SP1044) supports low clamping voltages required to protect modern electronic devices with small ICs.

Low cutoff voltage (maximum 6V for SP1043/SP1044 and 3.3V maximum for SP3045) provides protection for up to 95% of the interface.
