However, at the “2014 Industry and Technology Outlook Media Seminar” held by Yiwei News, Mr. Wang Wei, Business Development and Marketing Manager of Freescale Asia Pacific Microcontroller, described the Internet of Things (IoT) as a key node. The future development trend of the home gateway, a "magic box" that can realize various IoT application services such as smart home - "one box", the era of combining all the boxes is opening!

Smart home is an application scenario under the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). Others include building automation, smart city, smart lighting, smart grid, smart health, industrial automation, and these areas are constantly being involved in the entire wave of development of the Internet of Things. However, if your understanding of the Internet of Things is still limited to the M2M (Machine to Machine) interconnection, you need to update your knowledge immediately.

Different people have different definitions of the Internet of Things. People may be familiar with smart phones or other smart devices that control home appliances, sockets, heating, air conditioning, etc., and provide personalized services. The form of machine communication control, but obviously, in Freescale's eyes, the Internet of Things is more than just M2M (machine-to-machine communication).

For example, wearable devices, biosensors, etc. can detect various physiological processes of the human body. Data devices, combined with big data, will have a revolutionary impact on the healthcare industry.

Typical network architecture of IoT

In addition to extending the concept of IoT, Freescale also explains the typical network architecture of IoT. The model that today's Internet Service Providers (ISPs) admire is that all "things" are interconnected via WiFi, in the form of a cellular network as a central node. As shown in Figure 3 below.
