From left to right are input, ground, and output. In addition, C3 and C4 are output filter capacitors, which are used to suppress self-oscillation. If these two capacitors are not connected, the output of the linear regulator will usually be an oscillating waveform.
C1 and C2 are input capacitors. For AC voltage rectification input, their first function is to convert unidirectional pulsating voltage into DC voltage. After that, the voltage inversion occurs, so usually the capacity of the input capacitor should be larger than the output capacitor.
The AMS1117 series regulators are available in an adjustable version and a variety of fixed voltage versions. They are designed to provide 1A output current and the operating voltage difference can be as low as 1V. At the maximum output current, the voltage difference of the AMS1117 device is guaranteed to not exceed 1.3V at the maximum, and it will gradually decrease as the load current decreases.
AMS1117's on-chip fine-tuning adjusts the reference voltage to within 1.5% of the error, and the current limit has also been adjusted to minimize the pressure caused by the overload of the regulator and power circuit.
